Martyn Markland BSc MRICS Martyn is a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years of experience in investment, development and corporate real estate. He has worked for some of the world's leading property consultancies in markets as diverse as Leeds, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai. He is a member of the Investment Property Forum and has been a regular speaker at property seminars on topics ranging from local transport infrastructure to trends in the property investment market. Martyn founded iTAS in 2009 having spotted a gap in the market for a service that was tailored exclusively to the needs of commercial tenants and owner occupiers. He now advises both public and private sector organisations on issues ranging from cost reduction to headquarters relocation. e-mail mmarkland@i-tas.co.uk John Crowley BSc (Hons) MRICS John is a qualified Building Surveyor and has a vast amount of experience working for both corporate and public sector clients particularly in areas concerning dilapidations, condition surveys and general Landlord and Tenant issues. In addition, John has extensive experience in Health & Safety such as asbestos, fire safety, legionella and toxic mould. He also acts as an expert witness. He was chairman of the RICS working group for surveys of Commercial and Industrial Property and has recently completed new guidance on surveys and inspections of industrial and commercial properties and the new on-line guidance on behalf of the RICS books. Chris Edwards FRICS Chris Edwards has 40 years experience as a specialist in commercial property management matters. He chairs the RICS Commercial Market Board and has advised both the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Department of Communities and Local Government on a range of commercial property issues. He was a member of both the previous pan-industry steering groups for the two editions of Service Charges in commercial property: a guide to good practice and was elected chair of the pan-industry service charge group that created the most recent RICS guidance notes: Service Charges in Commercial Property launched in June 2006 and now fully operational as The Service Charge Code. Inevitably there are times where disputes cannot be settled by negotiation and Chris is frequently called upon to act as an expert witness.
